# IRC

You can send messages from normal Minecraft chat and choose which IRC activity appears on your screen.

## Send a message

Choose `Backslash`, `Equals`, `Hashtag`, or `None` for `Prefix`. The first three options use `\`, `=`, or `#` to mark an IRC message in chat. `None` uses no prefix.

`Send messages` controls whether Raven lets you send messages to IRC. If you enable `Anonymous`, your IRC messages do not show your username.

## Choose what you receive

Enable `Receive messages` to show incoming IRC messages in Minecraft chat. `Filter bad words` removes profanity from those messages.

## Choose when IRC makes a sound

`Play mention sound` plays a sound when an IRC message mentions your name. `Play message sound` plays a sound for every incoming IRC message.
